Welcome Get Shot By Tate!
Since you MUST know about me...... I'll talk about what kind of photographer I am. I'm the kid who hated traditional crap. I hated the concept of doing wedding photography. I wanted to do high fashion and naked people - and that WAS IT. Fast Forward to ten + years later....... I'm doing weddings, naked people (but it's always tasteful..... or at least I think it is) and I do SOME traditional stuff. I like to think my traditional stuff is twisted. Ok, it's not traditional. Call it what you want to call it, but I don't like the WORD - traditional. My wife does. She's twisted traditional. My work is my work. I don't like rules. It's hard for me to play by the rules when I'm doing photography. I think that's what keeps it so fun for me. I tell the parents of my senior shoots that I dislike cap and gown shots (was I supposed to do that?) but I still do them because I know they love those. ;-) I think you get the drift of what kind of photographer I am. I may think I'm way more radical than I am, but let me think I'm just ubercool and not traditional. Okay?

I received a cool honor from the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report a few weeks ago. I was selected as one of their 40 Under 40 in this area of Louisiana! It's definitely been a flattering year for me! The Purple Trailblazer campaign, winning it, being in 225 magazine, the local papers, and now this Business Report deal! AWESOME. When it rains, it definitely pours for me!

Again, I do not take anything about my job for granted - I am so appreciative that I love my job, much less HAVE one also! I am flattered that this group of highly esteemed people consider me worthy of this category of people.

I look forward to the dinner event they're having for us on December 3rd! Sarah, my parents, and in laws will be in company with me - we don't get to do that often enough so it'll be nice!

Here's a couple snapshots of the magazine for you to get the idea of what it looks like (and I will also attach the link to the online site so you can read it up close if you haven't yet/if you're even interested!).

This was the morning wedding celebration I shot at the beginning of October in the New Orleans Botanical Gardens. It's also where I shot the Clement wedding this past June. I love, love, love shooting around there. It's gorgeous! If you haven't seen it, it's a must see if you're ever in New Orleans (in the City Park).

Bob and Betsy reside in Austin but Betsy's family lives in New Orleans. By a small world, she is friends with a random client I made in Austin (Michele!) through another friend who I went to high school with here in Louisiana. It's just a tiny world sometimes. Anyway, Betsy and I hit it off via emails and they chose me to capture their special day (morning, really! I think it was one of the shortest weddings I've shot and it was so perfect.... I think I'd love to do my renewals like that!).

Check out how gorgeous this place is and with the addition of Betsy and Bob - it's even more beautiful. Thanks guys for having me do such a special moment in your lives.

I had the honor of photographing the Tureau family at the end of September. Caress is one of my oldest friends I grew up with and it's amazing for me to see her married, and as a mother now! Time just flies way too fast. Since this session - she gave birth to her and Nick's second son, Cruz. Caymen is one proud big brother!

Thanks to y'all for having me do a session!

The Saturday morning after Jason & Natlie's wedding in Baton Rouge, I zoomed off to the New Orleans airport to hop on a flight to Portland, Oregon! Jody Barrong and Gerard Williams were the engaged couple that flew me in to photograph their fantastic wedding day that following Sunday! We had a ball all day just mingling around Edgefield (the location of everything) up to the end of the reception! Thank you guys SO much for having me come out west to photograph your gorgeous day - the photos are evident of how much a ball it was for me to photograph. The black and white wedding dress was just too much fun!

Mid September, Jason and Natalie got married at the St. Aloysius Church in Baton Rouge. It was a gorgeous time for all of us. Their reception followed by at Boudreaux's off Government. I had never been inside (even though family owns it) so it was great to finally see what it was. What a beautiful place! It all looks "Old Baton Rouge" and I LOVE that. It's like they're becoming part of history. Sarah's cousin, Nikkie, and her husband Ben had their reception there as well so Sarah had told me about it.

Check out their photos. Again, what a gorgeous wedding and I loved shooting their day for them.

Gorgeous!
The church was stunning!
Do you make your couples audition for you Tate, because I swear-I have only seen beautiful people in your pics!?!

(11.07.09)
tate:

Haha - no auditions needed! It's all about making the clients feel their best (or at least I try my best to!) and it shows through the photos!
